hard drive crash 730 voluson

My service tech tells me this is common for this machine. Any thoughts?

I don't know what you mean by shutting down hard. Everything will be working fine one day and when I come in the next day and turn it on it will not boot up all the way because the hard drive has crashed.

Meaning that if it is not going thought the proper steps off shutdown. For instance, if you turn the breaker off before the system is completely shut down or a power surge shuts down the system.

The ultrasound machine is not being shut down hard. It is also on a dedicated line and has a surge protector. What else could cause the hard drive to crash so often?
