I accidentally installed a power supply assemby into an ATL HDI 5000 without turning off the main power switch in the rear of unit. Power MOSFET Q3 was blown as well as the two high-speed diodes located on the circuit side of PC board. This was repaired.

Now, all the supply voltages are okay, but when I boot system with this power supply, it generates error 0005, "Flash files were not loaded due to error evaluating and determining files to load." Problem is not present with a good HDI power supply assy.

Also, this power supply causes Comprehensive Test to fail in numerous areas, such as PCM-Image Bus PCM-IMM Video Bus Test, PSP1 Primary Buffer Test, PIM Standaline Test, etc.

Power supply contains some firmware and delivers correct voltages yet causes the problems stated above. Any suggestions?
Thank you,

Good Morning,
Kudoes to you for component level field repair. If another supply works okay, I would simply exchange it in whole, with one from a vendor like our host, Conquest. The HDI series has several parts that are linked with software, and replacing one may generate errors, if not matched to your system. Your best shot is to supply the power supply vendor with model and serial of the system. I don't know if Philips has put those units on end-of-life yet, so as a last resort you might get a quote from them.
Good Luck
Pat

Thank you, but I think the problem may be a damaged flash prom, U18. Upon testing, it gave a wrong checksum value. So I have burned another and I am having sockets installed for both flash proms. If replacing U18 doesn't solve the problem I will continue troubleshooting.
